Penny began her yoga studies in 1996 in Australia, but her interest in therapeutic yoga came through attending a specialized yoga school, in NYC for people with back issues and scoliosis, where she learnt to alleviate her chronic pain, through Iyengar based adapted yoga.
After moving to Vancouver BC, she completed a 500 hr training in Therapeutic Yoga, through Yoga Therapy International with Maggie Reagh. She went on to complete one of the first IAYT accredited Yoga Therapy 1000 hour trainings, in Vancouver and in Chennai. This unique training blends the work of BKS Iyengar's focus on alignment and therapeutic props, with Sri T. Krishnamacharya and his son Desikachar's Yoga Therapy, and includes 250 hours of coursework in Chennai, India with teachers steeped in the Krishnamacharya lineage.
Penny lives in the US and Australia, and is currently living in Wilmington, North Carolina, where she offers one month Scoliosis series at Exhale Yoga and Wellness and also teaches therapeutic yoga to a wonderful group of women at Carolina Beach.
In Australia she offers private yoga therapy, and yoga salons.
Penny has worked therapeutically with people with MS, Parkinson's Disease, COPD, Scoliosis and Arthritis.
